These terms apply to the Synonym Stack iPhone app and to synonymstack.com, both published by MomentumLab AI Pty Ltd, ABN 72 684 179 646, of Sydney, Australia. Using either one means you accept them. If you do not, the app can be deleted and this site can be closed.

What you may do with the app

You get a personal, non exclusive, non transferable licence to install and play Synonym Stack on devices you control, for your own use. You may not resell it, redistribute it, decompile it, or extract its word bank to build a competing product or dataset. Reading a word page on this website and learning something from it is, of course, entirely the point.

Synonym Stack Plus, and how the billing works

The game is free to play. Synonym Stack Plus is an optional auto renewing subscription that removes advertising, gives free revives in every mode, opens the whole Daily Archive and unlocks the Plus word packs.

Plans and prices: $2.99 per week, $5.99 per month, or $49.99 per year, in the currency of your App Store account. Apple may show a local equivalent.
The monthly and annual plans include a 7 day free trial for new subscribers. The weekly plan does not include a trial.
A trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before that. If you subscribe to a plan with a trial and you have already used one, Apple charges from the start.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, and your payment method is charged within 24 hours of the renewal date, until you cancel.
Cancel in the iOS Settings app: your name, then Subscriptions, then Synonym Stack. Cancelling stops the next renewal and leaves the current period running to its end. We cannot cancel on your behalf, because Apple does not give the developer that ability.
Payment, renewal, refunds and any dispute about a charge are handled by Apple under the terms of the App Store, not by us. Requests for a refund go to Apple.
Prices can change. Apple notifies subscribers of a price rise and asks for consent before it applies, as its own rules require.

Advertising in the free version

The free version is funded by advertising served through Google AdMob. Ads are chosen by Google, not selected or endorsed by us, and we are not responsible for what a third party advertiser says or sells. What data is involved is described on the privacy page.

The word library, and who owns what

The app, its artwork, its interface, its name and this website are owned by MomentumLab AI Pty Ltd. The Synonym Stack name and logo are ours.

The word bank is derived from Open English WordNet 2025, which is published under a Creative Commons Attribution licence and used here with attribution. The senses, example sentences, difficulty tiers, theme grouping and the written reason lines are our own editorial work on top of that source, as is the selection of which pairs survived the audit. Those parts are not free to copy.

You are welcome to link to any page on this site. You may quote a sentence or two with attribution, in the normal way. Bulk extraction of the library, whether by scraping or by any automated means, is not permitted.

What we promise, and what we do not

We work hard on the accuracy of the word bank and we fix what is reported. We do not warrant that every entry is beyond argument, that the app is free of defects, or that it will always be available. Nothing here is professional, academic or examination advice, and a synonym game is not a substitute for a dictionary when precision matters.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any consumer guarantee you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or any equivalent right you hold where you live. Where the law allows a limitation, our liability is limited to replacing the service or refunding what you paid for it.

Using it fairly

Do not attempt to interfere with the app or the website, circumvent the subscription, or use automated tools to hammer this site. Access can be withdrawn where these terms are broken.

Changes and governing law

These terms can change as the product changes. The effective date at the top marks the current version, and a material change will be reflected in the app release that causes it. These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
